* About the site

Clavering live sound monitor is situated in the playground of Clavering Primary school close to the site of a sound mirror that was constructed to listen for approaching Zeppelins during the First World War. This sound mirror was demolished in sometime in the 1960's when the Clavering Estate was built. In October 2022 Tees Archaeology undertook an archaeological investigation of the site to look for evidence of the Sound mirror as part of the Seascapes project.
